3. Do I need Local or State Government approval to install a rainwater tank?
Most Local and State Governments support the saving of water and installation of rainwater tanks though it is recommended to check first if there are any specific requirements.

4. Can I drink water from my rainwater tank?
Both poly and metal tanks are made from 'food grade' plastics or lined with food grade material. However, in line with some State Government Health recommendations, it is not recommended to use rainwater tanks for drinking purposes where a reticulated drinking water supply is available. In some instances it is not recommend using rainwater for cooking or other kitchen purposes or personal washing, such as baths, showers, hand basins and bidets. Please consult your local water authority or council.

5. When can I use water from my rainwater system?
You can use your rainwater at any time so long as you are not connected through an adaptor or water switch to mains water.

6. Do I need a pump?
It is recommended that you use a pump so that you will have pressure to force the water out at a rate similar to mains water or better. If you do not have a pump installed with your rainwater system you will only have minimal water pressure.

This would depend on the application, how much space you have, where you would like to have the tank located and your own personal preference in relation to visual aesthetics and price.

10. Do I need to have the tank and associated system maintained?
Yes it is recommended that you do have some ongoing maintenance to keep the system clean and clear from leaf debris, pests and other matter.
